How much do you take care of your eyes? In this busy life schedule, we often forget to keep a diet check. Especially, foods that boost our eye health. We wear designer glasses, sunglasses or prescription glasses which is surely one way to protect our eyes. Yes, when we step out in the sun the harmful UV rays damage the eyes too. And then, our designer sunglasses come to rescue. We often opt for bigger glasses frames, to protect the eyes as much as possible. It is imperative because of the scorching heat and dust.

But, what about the food we intake? What foods help in maintaining our eyes health? This is also one deciding factor that determines our eyes condition. So, today I am going to talk about food and how it connects to our vision health. Sit back, relax, sip on some coffee, put on your reading glasses and cast an eye over these amazing foods that are a must have in your eating routine!

1. Leafy Vegetables

Yes, I know that many of us don't like to eat leafy vegetables. Even I hated them, but after discovering its benefits, I make sure to add them to my diet. Greens are a rich source of Vitamin, Lutein, Zeaxanthin and Beta Carotene. These antioxidant agents protect eyes from harmful rays. Just like how a sun block cream works for your skin, similarly, these veggies act as sun’s harmful rays block agent for your eyes. So, along with your eyeglasses also add a dash of leafy vegetables for your eyes! Spinach and Kale are the best to eat for this purpose!

2. Eggs

My favourite food ever since childhood and I am sure many of you like eggs for a mouth-whiffing taste. To tell you they are also rich in Lutein and Zeaxanthin; these protect your eyes from blindness or damage. So, add eggs to your breakfast, and you know you are doing all good to stay fit and healthy!

3. Fish

Who said fats aren't essential? They have properties that can caress the eyes diligently. Fish is rich in fatty acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6 that are building blocks of fats in our body. And Omega-3 specially helps in eye care. So, eat fish and let your eyes get all the support. If you can't have fish everyday, since you have to cook, you can also opt for fish-oil tablets as an alternative!

4. Fruits

I am a big fruit lover, and I make sure I eat them every day. They add more value to our eye state. Orange, kiwi, grapes, guava, etc. you can eat them raw or sip on as juice. Fruits make sure your eyes stay away from eye diseases!

5. Nuts

Rich in Vitamin E and Zinc nuts help your eyes to resist cataract; it decreases the risk of it. Also, prevents age-related macular degeneration. Cashew nuts, almonds, etc. have them at least twice or thrice in a week and they will add a lot of value for health!
